Buzzoven To Headline Roadburn Festival On April 10th

Buzzoven will be headlining Roadburn Festival on April 10th
Find out all there is know about Roadburn Festival

"Roadburn 2014 is ecstatic to announce that sludge / stoner legends Buzzov*en will be making an extremely special performance, headlining the Thursday, Roadburn date, April 10th at the 013 venue.

Formed in 1989 when heavy riffs primarily meant grunge, Buzzov*en brought a particularly virulent malice and filth to their music that often manifested itself in extreme violence at their live shows. Not surprisingly, given their level of intensity and their heavy touring schedule, their lineup was quite volatile and changed frequently.

Now remaining original member Kirk Lloyd Fisher (guitar / vox) has re-joined forces with bassist Dixie Dave (Weedeater, Bongzilla, Buzzov*en‘s …At A Loss) and drummer Ashley (To A Frown, Sore) to reform the band and bring them to Europe for the first time ever. Time (and sobriety) may have tempered Buzzov*en‘s shows to be less broken glass and blood filled, but the music remains as potent as ever.

“I’m looking forward to Buzzov*en’s rebirth being at Roadburn. I am gearing up to make our European debut an onslaught of swamp ass gutteral delusions. I have started my ascent out of my corner of HELL that caged me. With the help of fellow members Dixie, Ash and Floyd, we have chosen you all to assault first. Welcome to violence fuckers”Kirk / Dirtkicker.

In the 12 years Buzzov*en was together, they released 4 LP’s (To A Frown, Sore, …At A Loss, Revelation: Sick Again) and 5 EP’s along with their legendary Buttrash demo tape. The influence of the band far exceeds their recorded output though, as Buzzov*en and Eyehategod are the forefathers of sludge / stoner metal and have made themselves household names in the metal underground through their frequent tours that spread the sludge gospel far and wide, and spawned countless musical offspring wherever they roamed.

We feel extremely lucky to be able to bring Buzzov*en to the Roadburn Festival to give everyone a chance to experience their vitriolic riffs and rage filled performance."

K. Lloyd will be hitting select shows with Joe Buck after Roadburn Festival in Europe

The Literal A To Z Of Rock And Roll

Check out the article posted up on the Tulsa Today news site:

"Zeke and ANTiSEEN team up for nine shows in ten days on the Black and Blue Spring Tour including a May 22 date at the Crystal Pistol in Tulsa.

Celebrating a collective 45 years of punk rock mayhem between them (27 years for ANTiSEEN and 18 for Zeke), these two legendary bands are set to tour together for the first time this coming May. To commemorate the occasion, each band has recorded new songs for a special tour-only split single to be released on Digital Warfare Records.

Zeke has also begun working on tracks for their first new album in three years, to be recorded later this year and then released on Relapse Records.

ANTiSEEN released a new 7" EP, Exploding Barbed Wire Death Match (on Green Mist Records), in January and have three more EPs scheduled for this year. The next, WORLDWiDe LiVE (recorded in Eindhoven, Netherlands and Pittsfield, Mass), is being readied for early summer release with the third and fourth to follow in the fall and winter.

Joining these two titans will be Joe Buck Yourself (former guitarist for Th' Legendary Shack Shakers and villainous upright bassist for Hank III) and up-and-coming Michigan hellraisers the Gallows"

Joe Buck Yourself Live In Raleigh, NC

Joe Buck put on one hell of a show the other night at Dive Bar and thanks to Robby for bringing in great bands to our favorite watering hole. With a dimly lit room and a perfectly spooky red light it only added to the ambiance that is a Joe Buck Yourself show. More and more one man bands are hitting stages everywhere but its folks such as Joe Buck, Scott Biram, Possessed by Paul James and the legendary Bob Log that are a masters class in showmanship and song writing. We have quite a few videos to post up from this show and will add one a week for the next few weeks.

Review of Flat Tires & Joe Buck 7" on Saving Country Music

Thank you to Triggerman for a great review over on Saving Country Music.

"I’m not one to chase every single limited-release 45 rpm put out by my favorite bands–that can get expensive quickly–but since we are nearing Record Store Day where the 7″ limited-release reigns supreme, and this little gem was thrown in my lap, I thought I would tell you about it’s virtues, and by proxy, the virtues of the single-sized vinyl format for those still perplexed why technology has regressed to move forward.

From Rusty Knuckles, this limited-edition 300-run 45 is a split with madman Joe Buck Yourself, and the Flat Tires. As aesthetics and artwork are just as important as the music for these collector-oriented releases, this one is delivered in clear blue vinyl, with a sleeve that has a parchment-like look with gold flecks you can see if you hold it in the light just right. The sleeve folds out to make a very cool original artistic rendition of Joe Buck and the Flat Tire front man meeting at the torso without interruption.

Anybody who has seen Joe Buck Yourself live can attest his show is like no other. This 7″ includes a staple of his live performance called “Planet Seeth”, which may on the surface sound like an immature punk/metal song targeted to the kids of divorce, while when you take it in, especially live, it can grant the most infinite wisdom.

“I fucking hate that I hate.”

That line is angry, self-deprecating, wise, relieving, and enlightening all at the same time. It is nothing short of genius. And live, when Joe Buck calls for “hate” from the crowd, scowling, pleading with his outstretched arm, with the red light gleaming in his eyes, it is an experience like no other. Of course trying to re-create this energy and interchange with crowd and performer in your domestic abode is virtually impossible, but it is highly more probably when the track your listening to is live like this one, and delivered with the piercing pureness and warmth of needle on vinyl.

On the flip side is the Flat Tires. Straight from the Blue Ridge Mountains of Appalachia, their punk-infused, raucous rockabilly juke joint madness comes at you like a kick in the teeth. I’ve never seen them live, but hearing this makes me bust my seams wanting to. The first minute on this live version of “Drink It Dry” is spent rearing back, like a taught slingshot string that when they finally let it fly, exudes more energy then a classroom full of ADD kids. It’s a rocking, wild number that gets your heart thumping and your head banging.

Two guns up!"

Flat Tires & Joe Buck Split 7" Review From Czech Republic

If we have any folks that can translate the review that would be quite helpful. We are stoked to see that all the bands on the label are starting to build a solid buzz over in Europe. With our European distributors H'art and Sonic Rendezvous firmly the label, it's going to be a southern invasion sometime soon. For our European friends, dig into Rebel Radio Brod and keep asking them to push our playlist.

ANTiSEEN & Joe Buck in Johson City, TN

ANTiSEEN just got a great write up promoting their show tomorrow night in Johnson City, TN, check it out:

Link to original story

BY TOM NETHERLAND
SPECIAL TO THE HERALD COURIER

Add flavors of wrestling, country music, aggression, blood and a deep dose of the South.
Now presenting, Antiseen.

The legendary punk rock veterans will headline a three-band bill at The Hideaway in Johnson City on Jan. 28. Acts supporting Antiseen include Joe Buck and a band whose name cannot be mentioned in a daily newspaper. Surprised? Needn’t be. It’s only punk rock bash and roll, and that’s how Antiseen founder Jeff Clayton likes it.

“It’s just stripped down rock ‘n’ roll, nice and loud,” Clayton said by phone last week from his home in Rock Hill, S.C. “It’s punk rock but it’s not Green Day. It’s Southern but it’s not Lynyrd Skynyrd.”
Formed in 1983 in Charlotte, N.C., Antiseen has long been described as destructo rock.

“That was dropped on us in out first year,” said the amiable Clayton. “We played our first show in October 1983 in Boone, N.C. The other band on that night was White Cross out of Richmond, Va. At the end of the show our guitars got smashed, drums, bass and so on.”

A member of White Cross remarked that Antiseen was destructo rock.

“The name stuck,” Clayton.

Antiseen embraced the term. For example, Clayton loves professional wrestling. “I’m way more influenced by (former wrestler) Greg Valentine than (Guns ‘N Roses leader) Axl Rose. But,” Clayton said with a laugh, “you won’t see a bunch of us wearing spandex.” Couple that with Antiseen’s Southern punk rock and Clayton’s sense of showmanship and his scarred forehead. Though not during all shows, Clayton has built a reputation for slicing open his forehead. Do that for 27 years and imagine how it looks.

“It’s pretty rough,” Clayton said. “I’ve actually had people ask if I was in a car wreck and in a way I’ve been in one for 27 years. It’s definitely a road map.”

How’s this for a road map. Antiseen has performed in all but a handful of the 50 states, more countries than Clayton can quickly name, with such heroes as the Ramones and he’s met country legend George Jones.

Scan Antiseen’s catalog. Alongside such riveting bomb-droppers as “Stormtrooper” and “No Apologies” come covers of country music from Ernest Tubb’s “Thanks A Lot” to Jones’ “I’ve Aged 20 Years in 5.” Why country covers from an aggressive punk rock band?

“Well, man, in songs we cover we never ever cover anything to be sarcastic,” Clayton said. “We cover things because we genuinely love the singers and the songs.”

For example, there was the time that Clayton, scar-headed punk rocker, met Jones, kindly country legend. “I said, ‘George, I’d like to give this to you because we covered a song you did,’” Clayton said. Jones leaned back and grinned. “He might have thrown it out the window when he got home,” Clayton said, “but by God I gave him a copy.”

Add all of the above. In an era when the mainstream flows with such force that it swallows unwitting millions, Jeff Clayton and his band chose another road and it has made all the difference. Hence the band’s name, Antiseen, a play on the word scene.

“I think we’re the footmen in the trenches,” Clayton said. “We’re a cult band. Our audience doesn’t just like us. They love us. That’s for me.”

HellRide Music - Joe Buck, Flat Tires Split 7" Review

We never got word that this review came out for the Joe Buck Yourself and Flat Tires Split 7", so read on folks as its a damn good assessment of the record. Also stoked on the review of record as a whole. We pride ourselves on great packaging and that stems from good design and quality illustrations. No janky or half assed shit will ever be produced or released by Rusty Knuckles.

Buy the Joe Buck and Flat Tires Split 7"

"Common allies in the dirt-merchant rock n’ roll battalion, sleazy renegade country rocker Joe Buck (oft referred to as Joe Buck Yourself) teams up with the rowdy, Hickory punk miscreants Flat Tires, for this slick little piece of translucent blue vinyl. One live cut from each act, and all equivalent to the business end of a sawed-off shotgun.

The performances are spirited and spot-on, the recording quality is top-notch (especially Flat Tires), and the hand drawn artwork for the sleeve is of graphic novel intricacy minus the presence of color. All of these elements combine for a release that is far from the “warmed over leftovers” aspect of some 7” splits. Renegade Kentucky shit hammer Joe Buck is a name I’ve heard for years. He was in the Legendary Shack Shakers, a band I’ve heard of but have never heard. He has played with Hank III, and has attained a cult like status. You can hear it his followers throughout the live recording of “Planet Seeth,” as the crowd is more than willing to get involved with his drunken, rambling vocal spew. There’s an equal helping of punk’s pacing and general fuck you attitude, to go along with the twang-y Southern guitar licks, and you can feel the live energy coming through on the recording.

After all these years he has finally got my attention, and “Planet Seeth” is a keeper through and through that perfectly matches the live version of Flat Tires’ “Drink it Dry (from the All the Right Enemies release)”. Damn do I want to see these NC boys live, as this version of “Drink it Dry” is an amps to 11, balls to the wall display of raucous, barroom brawling Southern punk fury. GG, Black Flag, and Antiseen could all be cited as influences, but FT lays down the gospel with a style and delivery that is 100% their own deal. They nail it here, and continue to prove why I’m a proud banner waver of their particular brand of stinking drunk, down home punk.

This is a short and to the point release showcasing the live fury of each of these bruisers. You can smell the sweat, taste the beer, and have your ears ring all in the comfort of your very own domicile. No punches pulled, no chins left without a fist mark, and not an ounce of pretense to be found anywhere. Best served with a glass of 101 proof Wild Turkey, and two packs of Reds."
