"So its been right at a week since our west coast tour with the mighty Bongzilla ended. Needless to say, we hit it off very well with the Bongzilla boys.Actually Dixie played on one of their albums and did a tour with them. Me and Michael (Pee Wee) really hit it off and i firmly believe i have a new brother in him for life. Touring with them,renting their back line and all around working together made life on this tour much easier. Bongzilla is still out there touring so get out and see them and buy some merch if you can to support this hard working band.

I have a few individual stories to tell but I'm just typing some thoughts and observations from this recent 8 day jaunt through the west. I want to be sure i tell the stories i have as they actually happened and get permission from all those involved so i don't step on any toes or piss anyone off. I never piss anyone off. HA!! While our first tours back, in 2011,after 10 years of doing nothing proved to be lucrative and full of hype, this recent leg of shows, which by the way was after another 4 year lull proved to be good but only part of the hype previously experienced was present. It's becoming painfully obvious that if we don't stay busy, tour and work harder we will slowly dwindle back to an unknown band of the past. Some musicians i feel get spoiled from certain things being a certain way and expect that every tour or show will be just as lucrative and also bigger venues with a consistent amount of crowd attendance. Which of course is not the reality of being in the music business as things change year to year and even day to day.

After getting picked up at the train station by our host Mark, we met him at the Deep Blues festival in Clarksdale, MS this past October. Mark and his beautiful girlfriend Andrea let us stay at their country home, and the hospitality was over the top.

Rosenheim is a smallish city and the Asta club where we played was one of the only games in town. The soundcheck was easy and I finally got an amp that was easy to drive - a fender Hot Rod Deluxe. The skin on Sarah's floor tom is getting stretched out and is starting to sound like she's hitting a piece of bologna. Sadly the only music store in Rosenheim didn't carry the right size so bologna it is!

We had 9 minutes to transfer to our connecting train to make the show on time and we made it! With all of our shit that we're carrying it was no small feat. We then proceeded to get drunk on the train once the hard work was over. Sarah ate a curry that wasn't bad. We arrived in Vienna and met up with our host Stefan. Super nice guy, who just happened to be the manager of the club we're playing at. We walked to the club in the rain and I ate a falafel from a Turkish food stand that was pretty tasty.

We left our friends Sabina and Frank in Cologne. I bought and consumed a delightful cheese sandwich from a local vendor and off we went to Freiburg which signaled the beginning of 8 shows straight. This will either turn us into the tightest, sloppy rock and roll band or we'll drop dead trying.

After arriving at the Slow Club and got ripped off by the cabbie. He's what you call in German - a dickhead (very similar to English). The club looked kinda non-descript from the outside, but what wonders filled its hallowed halls. Never have we been taken care of better than the people that ran this club. All the local beer and organic wines we could swallow, a beautifully prepared pumpkin soup and lasagna dinner and a place to sleep upstairs. I've seen some band crash-pads in my day and I wouldn't let a blind dog sleep in them. This place was gorgeous with a fully stocked kitchen, linens on the beds, a shower and fresh towels. Spotless.

So we got driven to Mons, which is an hour away from Brussels in two small cars with all our gear. I said "wouldn't one giant American-style car be enough?", and everyone hugged and laughed and lit their cigarettes.

We played downtown near their city hall where they had a beautiful giant Christmas tree surrounded by some very unsteady skaters. Apparently, we shouldn't expect any hockey threats coming out of Belgium.

Sarah and me prepped for the show by 'touching the good luck monkey' near the Mons City Hall. We reluctantly rubbed its shiny little noggin and wouldn't you know it, the show was killer. Thanks Mr. Lucky-Monkey-Man!

"While Fritz 'n Johnson after a stopover in Iceland continued their flight continued to the Netherlands to be there on August 28 European release of their latest album' To The Bastard Sons of Texas' quarters Baroeg in Amsterdam, we high time to find our focus as shifting to Whiskey Dick, their new album and accompanying tour on the old continent.

At least 18 days peaked 'The Bastard Sons of Texas at number one on the iTunes Alternative Country Charts. Rightly so, because it 6'de studio album of this Texan bastard sons proposes at no time disappointed. Who ever saw the band live knows that the guys from Whiskey Dick quite a few have in the fingers and with their semi-acoustic guitars get the whole club moving. Typically, however, because as they say themselves, 'by the time we play our last issue is either the merch sold or the club empty. At humor lacking Fritz not to the country and hillbilly tracks to talk to each other during a live show, what the atmosphere extra benefits. Whiskey Dick is close to the people and warned chat with the fans do not. In short, Reverend Johnson and Fritz have become welcome guests in European clubs. However, the band did over there eight years before they played their first show in Europe. That this tour two years ago now, has been well received, we are absolutely not angry about. After every show we are already looking forward to the next, because the degree of addiction Whiskey Dick is very high. You have been warned.

'The Bastard Sons of Texas' lists 13 tracks on the cover, but it contains 14 which, as we are used from Whiskey Dick, compromise between drunken talk and sentiment. We immediately notice that the balance is restored between the two extremes, after the previous album 'From The Devil's Boots' still had a somewhat more melancholic undertone. On the new album is so uninhibited partying again, and we try to no longer count how many times words like "drunk, stoned, fuck, whiskey, devil, truck and Texas are reviewed. In terms of themes on this record will obviously nothing new, but why should that too. The formula has been working for ten years and they will not get bored, on the contrary. Always revolves around the circle: from liefdesverdiet to drink and drugs on Fuck The World, to then return to land with your feet on the ground and draw the lessons of life.

The opening track 'Whoops I Was Drunk "is a very playful song with an equally playful animation attached to it, both representative of the carpe diem content of Whiskey Dick. A lot of pranks, as in the title track 'The Bastard Sons of Texas', 'Fast Life' or 'Goddamn I Need Some Whiskey', with this last number with matching whiskey voice is played. In between the moral of the story Restless, Heart Broke And Stoned 'broken heart' Memories Of You 'and the amorous soul in' One More Day '. Leaves us with a few tall stories about 'Edna and Earl' and 'Crazy Uncle Blue' to naturally conclude that the gentlemen 'Truck Drivin' Blood '. The property is easily listenable tunes and your willy nilly cheerful. 'The Bastard Sons Of Texas "is actually the ideal location for anyone who stepped on the wrong side of the bed and then finds that the coffee is on. Whiskey Dick saves.

The European tour starts as I said on 28 September in Amsterdam and ends on October 24 in the cosiest pub in Deinze. In between there are numerous shows in smaller and larger clubs, at home and in neighboring countries. Options enough as the tour calendar shows, and so no one has a valid excuse for Whiskey Dick miss this time. Put that checkered shirt already finished and get those cowboy boots out of the closet.
