Rusty Knuckles Custom Motorcycle Seat For A Softail

Custom Motorcycle Seat from Rusty Knuckles
As of late we have been primarily focusing much of our efforts towards Instagram for our posting and to connect with everyone. The only issue with that format is the lack of depth and overall, we have more to say and our projects tend to have many layers of content to them, which that service just lacks in promotions for and is forgotten within hours. It is officially time to get back to our blog news feed and create more updates for all of our work and the great bands we are able to work with. Hopefully the time away will help to reinvigorate our site and add some fresh content.

So lets start rolling out some new projects. Here is a recent custom leather motorcycle seat that shipped out to a client in Tennessee. They happened to run across an old seat we made as a portfolio piece that we keep for shows and to promote our work and asked if we could do it in light tones and primarily in black. Sure we can. After some long hours of tooling and stamping, one cool new seat is riding all around Tennessee now.

For much of our custom work, hop over to the Rusty Knuckles Etsy Store

The Oddities Collection of Ryan Matthew Cohn

A Kapala skull is a sacred human skull that has been decorated in semi precious stones and metals and used in tantric Buddhist rituals. The skull cap opens and is meant to hold ceremonial offerings such as blood.

Ever check out the show Oddities on the Science Channel? One of the recurring cast members Ryan Matthew Cohn always had a great collection of bones and skulls from the work he creates in osteology. These photos are from his instagram page and many more can be found there and over on his main site, have a look.

New Illustration For Crafters Metal Fabrication

Final illustration for Crafters Metal Fab new tshirt graphics

Everything has to start with a core idea and I always try to find a different perspective for something that may have been told already many times over. For this new illustration I wanted to work up a design for a friends metal fabrication company without just showing an anvil and or fire relating to the centuries old context of a metal worker. Adding in a cow skull with soon to be added rivets and metal banding, the machinery from the shop juxtaposes the setting and gives it a different vibe. Ol' Randy looks to be pounding in a railroad spike into the skull and gives the viewer the idea that maybe its just more than metal work going on at Crafters Metal Fab.

Seen Too Many Sugar Skulls, Here Is The Best

Damn is it cool to see something that leaves your jaw flapping in the wind. This Dia De La Muertos mask by Shane Martin is a true work of art. The precision in the design of found objects alludes to a very analytical mind that we are looking forward to seeing plenty more work from.

Large Tattoo Skulls For Those Who Need To Make A Statement

The illustrated skull as a tattoo motif will never go out of style. Could it be due to the fact that we all have a skull or that it represents life, death and all of that encompasses us as humans? Our morbid fascination with death as a society is one of the only constants we throughout recorded history, besides taxes and compounding interest.

For those who use their skin as a canvas and allow for the macabre to come to life, this is dedicated to you. All of the tattoos below are well thought out and take up a large portion of each recipient's body. To achieve such a goal is to put great faith into your chosen tattoo artist and a belief in your mission of pain, to let a personal story unfold. Hades is proud and smiling outwardly from the depths.

Trophy Skulls And Headhunting For Animist Idenity

Skulls are an omnipresent realization of death and the unknown. They are stenciled into skin, painted onto canvas, sculpted from stone and in the images below, they have been claimed as trophies of war. To the Dayaks of Borneo, who are animists and believe that anything which is living, is endowed with a spirit. To kill thine enemy and cut off their head, entitles you their attributes as they believed the soul was contained within the skull.

Modern science has many beliefs on where a soul resides and for pertinent information check out a great show on the Science Channel hosted by Morgan Freeman called Through The Wormhole. They go into great detail about all things relating to the brain and our perception of reality. Just be glad that being headhunted in our western society, has a far different meaning and usually relates to advancing in a career.

As far forward as we have come, the skulls below are still highly collectible. We as humans, have advanced in technology and in the science of understanding the world around us. Personally, I am curious on the notion if society were to crumble, how long would it be, before traditional headhunting would begin again in western culture? Or has it already?

Golden Age Skull

Artisans come in many forms and work in a variety of mediums and tend to not get the credit they deserve. Every now and then you get to come across something so intriguing that it just begs for attention. Take a look at this golden age of metal working style of skull. Go and scour your favorite scrap yard or flea market and think of how individual pieces could be assembled into something this cool. I dig the crystal skulls of lore, skulls painted on walls, skulls tattooed on the masses but the intricate cast metalwork of this skull bring it to a whole new level of appreciation.

Yo TBC Chassis Works and Brown Dog Welding, here is a gauntlet thrown down for yall and to anyone else. Got any found objects that could be put together to rival this metal skull? Damn this could be a solid challenge for all of us to come up with something.
