country.' I use the word 'modern' simply to distinguish him from the
'old timers' Bobby, Willie, Waylon, etc. because there are differences
despite Peewees close stylistic links. The big thing is that his music
has a total lack of sanitization whilst the other three, at least early
in their careers, were dictated to by the record companies, as a
consequence of which, whilst they were always edgy, some of that record
company way of doing things can't have failed to have smoothed off some
of the harsh edges. This is not the case with Peewee's music, which on
occasions is raw and edgy but at the same time incredibly melodic
despite a hardness that adds an aggressive and at times slightly
threatening nuance to his work.
"Innovation
is one of the very things that keeps a genre growing, and thriving. It
helps take down all of the boundaries, and really gives it a fresh new
sound. While southern metal has been around for quite some time now, you
don’t see too much of it anymore, at least anywhere near the mainstream
circuit. Bands like Maylene and the Sons of Disaster, Texas Hippie
Coalition, Honky, and Norma Jean popularized the combining of metal and
country music influence, and now Stump Tail Dolly is taking it to a
whole new level. A duo of two feisty, and sensational artists, “STD” is
bringing back a style of music that quite a few consumers of both the
metal, and country scene enjoy.
"Chattanooga native Brian "Husky" Burnette creates music that has its
roots wound deep around the sounds of blues and classic rock ‘n’ roll.
His songs pitch and turn as each fiery rhythm is laid bare and every
Southern detail is explored. His voice is steeped in the history of his
native state, a melodic rebellion born of a desire to create and share a
collection of personal experiences. His voice is deep and rumbling,
like a storm front rolling in over the mountains, but his voice is
surprisingly light and malleable—although you can be sure there’s still
enough punch to knock the air from your lungs.
To go along with the deluxe rerelease of his previous record, "Tales
from East End Blvd," Burnette and his label have shared a new video for
album cut "That Liquor." It’s a ferocious stomper that pairs a series of
sweltering guitar riffs with Burnette's inimitably brusque voice—it’s
the perfect combination to convey this kind of bucolic, whiskey-soaked
story. He seems born to sing this song, a rollicking,
rough-around-the-edges burner that's determined to kick in your door and
share some hard-earned wisdom. His raw melodies and even rougher voice
take delight in the seedier moments of life and in their communal
conveyance. The song introduces us to the late-night juke joint
atmosphere that Burnette and his music inhabit. It's a place of smoky
shadows and dangerous characters, and I can't wait to go back."

Butter My Cornbread is straight up about getting it on. Nothing more, nothing else. Just sweating it out!
Skinny Woman is an RL Burnside tune I've been playing since I started this solo thing.
So Doggone Lonesome
is a Johnny Cash cover. We worked it up as one of our 3 songs to play
at a Johnny Cash Birthday Bash one year and we dug it so much that we
wanted it recorded."
It's great to see outlaw country artist's such as Whitey Morgan get a review on the youtube channel The Needle Drop. This is good for several reasons. Anthony reviews a ton of albums and also churns up a ton of views on his channel so it is guaranteed to get picked up by a lot of other media channels. The other element that is damn cool is how straight forward he is within the review and about the music itself. Many times I can be personally at odds with a review as sometimes the description can be just about one particular song and not look at the album as a whole. Anthony really dives in to each album and talks on them with a deep listen and it shows when within his descriptions. Kudo's to Whitey on the great album and getting a solid review outside of the main country areas.

At least 18 days peaked 'The Bastard Sons of Texas at number one on the iTunes Alternative Country Charts. Rightly so, because it 6'de studio album of this Texan bastard sons proposes at no time disappointed. Who ever saw the band live knows that the guys from Whiskey Dick quite a few have in the fingers and with their semi-acoustic guitars get the whole club moving. Typically, however, because as they say themselves, 'by the time we play our last issue is either the merch sold or the club empty. At humor lacking Fritz not to the country and hillbilly tracks to talk to each other during a live show, what the atmosphere extra benefits. Whiskey Dick is close to the people and warned chat with the fans do not. In short, Reverend Johnson and Fritz have become welcome guests in European clubs. However, the band did over there eight years before they played their first show in Europe. That this tour two years ago now, has been well received, we are absolutely not angry about. After every show we are already looking forward to the next, because the degree of addiction Whiskey Dick is very high. You have been warned. 'The Bastard Sons of Texas' lists 13 tracks on the cover, but it contains 14 which, as we are used from Whiskey Dick, compromise between drunken talk and sentiment. We immediately notice that the balance is restored between the two extremes, after the previous album 'From The Devil's Boots' still had a somewhat more melancholic undertone. On the new album is so uninhibited partying again, and we try to no longer count how many times words like "drunk, stoned, fuck, whiskey, devil, truck and Texas are reviewed. In terms of themes on this record will obviously nothing new, but why should that too. The formula has been working for ten years and they will not get bored, on the contrary. Always revolves around the circle: from liefdesverdiet to drink and drugs on Fuck The World, to then return to land with your feet on the ground and draw the lessons of life. The opening track 'Whoops I Was Drunk "is a very playful song with an equally playful animation attached to it, both representative of the carpe diem content of Whiskey Dick. A lot of pranks, as in the title track 'The Bastard Sons of Texas', 'Fast Life' or 'Goddamn I Need Some Whiskey', with this last number with matching whiskey voice is played. In between the moral of the story Restless, Heart Broke And Stoned 'broken heart' Memories Of You 'and the amorous soul in' One More Day '. Leaves us with a few tall stories about 'Edna and Earl' and 'Crazy Uncle Blue' to naturally conclude that the gentlemen 'Truck Drivin' Blood '. The property is easily listenable tunes and your willy nilly cheerful. 'The Bastard Sons Of Texas "is actually the ideal location for anyone who stepped on the wrong side of the bed and then finds that the coffee is on. Whiskey Dick saves. The European tour starts as I said on 28 September in Amsterdam and ends on October 24 in the cosiest pub in Deinze. In between there are numerous shows in smaller and larger clubs, at home and in neighboring countries. Options enough as the tour calendar shows, and so no one has a valid excuse for Whiskey Dick miss this time. Put that checkered shirt already finished and get those cowboy boots out of the closet. See you there!"
"Husky Burnette re-releases great 2013 collection—with some special extras
Sometime in late fall or early winter of 2013, Husky Burnette released the album Tales from East End Boulevard. It was a particularly powerful collection of tunes, prompting at least one eerily prescient reviewer to dub it, “The album that will be remembered for making Husky Burnette.”
Now, a little over a year and a half later, the album is being re-released by the Rusty Knuckles record label with four new bonus tracks in preparation for the fall “Tales Revisited Tour.” The re-release and the tour are only the precursors to Burnette’s latest, greatest effort to date, Ain’t Nothin’ But A Revival, scheduled for release in mid-November.

with a full-time keytarist and co-frontwomen, but Motobunny somehow
manage to make it work. It would be easy to dismiss the band as a novelty
if they didn’t have the songs to back it up, but as their self-titled
debut proves, they’ve got about a dozen. The band was formed backstage at an Iggy gig a few years ago, when
members from The Wooly Bandits and The Love Me Knots decided to merge.
Collectively, the members have shared the stages with everyone from
Nirvana and The Damned to Pearl Jam and X, but their album has a much
more glam-punk vibe to it. From the Joan Jett-like rocker “Shake Me” to
the just what it sounds like track “My Boyfriend is a Ghost” the band is
distorted guitars with plenty of synths and hooks. There are a few weaker tracks here and there, but ultimately, the record is an experiment in glitter and grease that ends well.

Nothing in this world is free and now that pirated music has shifted to streaming music and online links are continually flooded with new bands, how do you cut through the clutter and achieve any form of success? "One could get lost in the family tree that has
sprouted Motobunny so let's just summarize: members of The Love Me Nots
and The Woolly Bandits have combined to produce a double frontwoman glam
meets garage meets rockabilly meets pop band that's as hard to resist
as they are to define. Legend has it that the band got together after
meeting up at an Iggy Pop concert, and their sound reflects it. "Shake
Me" and "Let's Go Out" are as catchy as any Top 40 Taylor Swift hit, but
with a Motley Crue flair. When Gwen Stefani took a break from No Doubt
and became a pop star, that's kind of what Motobunny feels like -- like
some rock 'n' roll chicks who wanted to get their Dance on.
"Motobunny, not to be confused with Motorhead, Motorhoney or Motorsister, is an energetic rock & roll band led by the dual vocal powerhouses Christa Collins and Nicole Laurrene. Not since Louise Post and Nina Gordon of Veruca Salt has there been such a remarkable pairing for lead singers.
Christa Collins has performed and recorded with Little Richard, and Sky Saxon, just to name a couple. She currently fronts LA garage act The Woolly Bandits; became an “X Factor USA” Top 8 finalist; and has appeared in several films. Nicole Laurenne was an award-winning classical pianist as a teen; has been named Arizona Republic’s “Best Frontperson”; and currently fronts both the Love Me Nots and electrofuzz duo Zero Zero.
Guitarist Michael Johnny Walker is on Phoenix New Times’ list of the Top 10 Phoenix Guitarists; founded and currently performs with The Love Me Nots; is featured in Fender Guitar’s “Soul of Tone” film with Dweezil Zappa; and both produces and performs with Zero Zero. Bassist Rik Collins has toured and recorded extensively with legendary garage rock act The Seeds before founding and performing with The Woolly Bandits.
For their self-titled debut, the quartet pulled out all the stops making their way to Detroit to record a dozen songs with Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Electric Six, Dirtbombs) and had the album mixed by Bob Hoag (The Format, Deer in The Headlights, Ataris), and mastered by Jason Livermore (Rise Against).
Everything Motobunny did to make this record has paid off in spades. It is fun, it is danceable and has songs filled with hooks which will bury themselves in your psyche and have you singing along without a care in the world. Their talent and experience pays off as well, as the band comes off remarkably tight for just their first album together while being very polished, thanks in part to the engineering crew.
At times Motobunny sound like a new wave ’80s band and will have your ass shaking with songs like “Let’s Go Out”; then they can get dark and sleazy on tracks like “Drown.” “Apocalypse Twist” is a balls-out rocker, and the album closer “I Warned You” is a heartbreak ballad of sorts. These are just a smattering of various sounds Motobunny brings you, and they make them all work very well together.
With band members having many irons in the fire, let’s hope Motobunny isn’t just a one-off project, because this debut album leaves you wanting more."
"There is something that is raw, and lovely about a live
recording, with no fluff added. Stevie Tombstone hits a great cord with
this sampling. It doesn't hurt that it includes one of my favorite
songs, of his 'Nuthin Sweet About 16', love this version. With hints of
Cash, Bluegrass, and Steve Earle, you get the drift of the road you will
go down, and you will def want to turn around and go back for more.
You get the feeling that you are there at the show, in an intimate
setting. 'Murder City Breakdown', has a bit of swing to it, straight
out of Austin. Stevie has a gift for writing songs that hit ya in ya
core, that you can relate to. 'Lucky', tells the story of how one is
lucky to be alive, and lucky to not be in jail, who can't relate to
that? If you love a good tune, from a good storyteller, do yourself a
favor, give this cd a listen. Download a song, or two, or seven...hell
save ya self a buck, and buy the whole damn thing. You will thank me, and
for that, you are welcome."
Give it up for the folks in Motobunny. Not only have they stormed out of the gates with their stellar new album, but they are knocking on doors world wide in anticipation of upcoming tours. "We're just a train-robbin', gun-totin', dope-smokin', guitar-pickin', muthafuckin' good time band, taking hillbilly music and spreading it across the land," is how Fort Worth, Texas duo Whiskeydick describe themselves, which is as good as anything Nightshift can conjure to describe their soulful blend of outlaw country and metal, played by two big, bearded, heavily-tattooed blokes armed with acoustic guitars and sat on wooden folding chairs for the duration of their shows.
