Word on the streets of Madrid to Barcelona and onto Burgos is that Rory Kelly is starting to truly cultivate his European crowd. After being recognized on the streets of Barcelona and then playing multiple sold out shows in a row, the hard work and dedication is starting to pay off. Huge congrats to Rory, Pops, Billy and Nancy for getting across the pond and bringing their brand of Southern Rock to the hungry audiences.

Rory Kelly Tearing Up Another Stage, This Time In Cangas, Spain
Just the other week, Rory Kelly was tearing up stages all over Spain. More of the photos from the tour are starting to trickle in, so check out a few taken by Nova at the SalaSon in Cangas, Spain.
Connect with Rory Kelly on Facebook
Rough translation below from the write up on the show
"Guitarist Rory Kelly, accompanied by his father on drums, and a 'peculiar' bassist named Billy, rocked like no one had done the 'famous' morracense room (ask in USA for liquor-coffee).
We often see pictures of those punk shows of the 70 London concerts with more energy than any heavy festival today. We find that no longer exist those concerts, but I assure you that what these rockers showed Morrazo Cangas do not have anything to envy to that (I guess). Details like making slide with the bottle of the Star, or play bass crawling on the floor (by blood, with glasses), or some detail related to a passport and a key that will anecdotally between band and photographer.
I feel that the photos do not reflect the anger, but so you stay with the desire to have come. Do not expect more, a few more to come SalaSón (consult our agenda)."

Rory Kelly Is Helping Out The Spanish Economy
Through the magical computer box we just got word from the man himself, Rory Kelly, that the tour in Spain is going over like gang busters. Big crowds at every single show and this means that folks are coming out in force, to have a good time. All the major news outlets love to beat us down, about whatever political candidate, is the soup of the day and how we should fear economic collapse. Here is the one key to unlock all the doors. Citizens of the world need to spend their hard earned cash and enjoy themselves. Don't go out and break the bank, but a little bit of grease on the wheels goes a long way. It will help your mental state and alleviate ya from smashing in the tv or better yet from believing the hype machine called corporate news.
Do yourselves a favor, get out to see a show, buy a few beers from the club and enjoy the good times. Life is damn short and in a blip it will all be over. Ahem, now we have stepped off the soapbox so check out some of the tour photos from Rory Kelly in Spain.

Rory Kelly Feature Review In Staf Magazine
![]() |
| Rory Kelly, Feature album review in Staf Magazine |
"Although the debut of this trio of North Carolina came to name Rory Kelly's Triple Threat, now have been only the name of its leader, guitarist and singer. And that the battery we have a veteran like Mike Kelly. Yes, you are correct, his father. Theirs is pure swamp blues-rock and if you get too close you can even bite a crocodile in the swamps of Louisiana. Its current approaches the sound swampy southern rock but that can not prevent certain details or sleazy rock metalheads. In fact Rory was in the scorching Crack County Daredevils. The past year was the most prominent in the South By Spouthwest of Austin, Texas and with a complete sound strange. Sometimes the pace is pure metal. Low is the case in which more raw sound like ZZ Top crossed with heavy blues experiments of Led Zeppelin. The title track (Do not Shake My) Family Tree is also pure cane and southern r'n'r accelerated. We also have some surprises as in Searchin For An Angel with his slow and spectral sound and voice hoarse with Rory makes me remember the last of the Mark Lanegan Band.Sure you live the potion is even more tasty and dangerous!"

Rory Kelly Feature Interview In Popular 1 Rock Mag, From Spain
In a few weeks Rory Kelly will be embarking on a tour around Spain. As the tour is about to start, more and more press is coming in from overseas. Here is a quick interview that was done with Popular 1 Rock Mag.
Now in its second work, "(Do not Shake) My Family Tree "which explores essentially the sound heir of the Daredevils, but much more melodic and refined, with Blues over this base. But do not panic, energy is still there, his past (and his father!) as follows fierce metalhead revealing.
In October, Rory Kelly will be in our country to answer questions and make new friends.
To the speaking, Rory. I guess you're satisfied with this new album.
"Sure, I feel great about it. It was all smooth as silk, and is having a great response from whoever heard it. There is plenty of energy in it. We made a good marriage of old and new recording techniques. We recorded the rhythm backing tracks live and then use pro-tools to make the mixtures. But we got to capture the energy and rawness. In addition, the title is reference to the family. Guess that some people do not know that my father is the drummer of the band, so we are a group oriented the family (laughs). We had some incident with some people in the past, so the title simply works out (laughs). We were working on that topic in the study and it fit like a glove ".
It seems that this is more for you a party than a job, but you certainly take it seriously ....
"Well, as a worker I am music, I enjoy being on the road, but also I feel the same love for the study. Making music is like a big party in my life, and even if not out on tour, find some way of making music. One way or another, it's great to do music and bring people together in around the world. "
In your music we can find a large conglomerate of sounds, what can you tell me about your influences?
"I like a lot of things, I do not know if it can be considered influences. It would be too hard to name them all, but there are a few names: Johnny Winter, Dimebag, Slash, Metallica, Iron Maiden, Rolling Stones, my father, Scotty P., Billy Velvet ... My tastes are varied. Simply I love music. From the Blues to Heavy Metal, and everything in between. "
This is your second album, can you like the first album or have your view of things changed in this time?
"Yes, absolutely. In our first album, we had fired the bassist and I ended up rerecording all tracks myself. But when Billy Miller joined us, it totally changed our way of doing the recording. We had the feeling there was no way to get bears with the above. "
Can you tell me briefly how did the Triple Threat come about?
"Well, he went out immediately after Crank County decided to stop touring. Wanted to keep busy and keep writing music. So we started doing concerts by our surroundings and people liked how we sounded. So with the help of my dad, we went and recorded material in a demo. My father proved to be the perfect battery for what our sound needed. He was a drummer in Metal in the 80's and 90's, played in a group called Bomb Squad. They were an original band from the Old Bridge Militia. I grew up with bands as Overkill and Metallica ... All They were friends of my father and used to gather to party or make jams, mid- eighties. But now that both we are a little older we've gotten really into Southern rock, grimy and sleazy. Then Billy came and it went to another level. He brings a lot energy on stage and his performances are killer. He plays bass like an animal and thats when we are together on stage, we are fucking powerful ".
Obviously you have not invented anything, but you sound totally current ...
"That's right. I'm very into metallic guitar tones in the modern production, but when I listen to an album by Johnny Cash I'm envious because I wish the world would continue as in 1950, when bands came and played the best they could. So I try get some of each style in our albums. "
What do the following genres for you? Heavy Metal, by example.
"It makes me study guitar with detail. You have to claim it. Heavy Metal has some of the best musicians in the world. "
Blues.
"Dark, full of soul. Change mood of the people and makes the people feel things. "
Classic Rock.
"It is the true origin of what is the current music. These guys and girls set the scales for musicians. 'Highway Star 'by Deep Purple has still one of the heaviest guitar riffs in history. Beats most of the things that are done today. "
Southern Rock.
"I also love that style. It's our home version of Rock and Roll. Is Blues and Rock, but with somewhat less speed. The battery goes with a rate that sounds like real swampy music".
I read somewhere that you were a great Thrash Metal fan ...
"Yes, I love those rhythms so fast Battery and accuracy of the guitars. Alex Scholnik of Testament is a brilliant guitarist. "
What do you search for yourself as a guitarist?
"Sentiment and energy. I am interested in doing the same licks night after night ... I like the feeling, find the groove together and to see what happens. "
Who are your favorite guitarists?
"Johnny Winter, Dimebag, Marty Friedman, Stevie Ray Vaughan, Hendrix, Warren Haynes, Alex Scholnik and Gary Moore, only to name a few. It's a long list. "
And as a singer?
"I really like the singers melodic. I do not like grunts or screams. I love people like Chris Cornell, Layne Staley, Johnny Cash, even James Hetfield because even being a metal vocalist, he can sing. As before, the list is long ".
Crank County Daredevils ... How do you remember that stage?
"It was one of the highlights of my musical career. Learned plenty from Scotty and Billy. I still enjoy hanging out with them from time to time and jam".
What is the difference between playing with them and Triple Threat?
"There really is not too much, except for music. Everyone is professional in Triple Threat and Crank County, so working with them is and was a pleasure. "
Any plans?
"Right now we are working on a single. We are doing a song of Uriah Heep, 'Stealing'. Soon we will run one video of the same subject and really hopefully it will help us be put us on the map. We will continue with the tour, we've done over 70 shows in 2012. And we still have to go to Spain! We are constantly spinning ".
We'll see you here in October, What can we expect from your concerts?
"A lot of energy and loud Rock and Roll. Let's cause a big bang and hope people in Spain join in the fun with us. Also, I'm working to learn Spanish, so stay attentive to the microphone because I will try my best to speak Spanish. "
We look forward to it. Anything else you want to say to your fans in Spain?
(In perfect Castilian) "I hope to see fans of Rock and Roll out and have fun with us! We can not wait to come to Spain and play music in your beautiful country! See you in October. "

Rory Kelly - Feature Interview On Rock And Roll Army
![]() |
| Rory Kelly interview on RockAndRollArmy.com in Spain |
Rory Kelly will be invading Spain this October and he has been getting some press in Europe, just in time for the tour to kick off. Its a quick read below and a few things are muddied in translation, but the point comes across loud and clear. Big things are in store for these fellas, so sit back and take a listen.
"Although our country is a complete unknown, Rory Kelly is one of those tours that any fan of Rock 'n' Roll should not miss. Some
may sound your name will be fought in the ranks of Crank County
Daredevils, but here we are going to find something more along the lines
of a bluesy hard rock with balls discográficamente has two fruits in
the form of discs, " Better Than The Blues "and most recently" Do not Shake My Family Tree ". Next
October we will visit with his trio of Billy Miller on bass and Mike
Kelly on drums (if you noticed the coincidence of name is that
effectively no relationship between them: Mike is the father of Rory). So we got in touch with him so he would answer a short questionnaire.
- First of all congratulations on your latest album, this way "Do not Shake My Family Tree" we liked a lot. Are you happy with it?
- Thanks, glad you like the new album. Yes, we are very happy with it. We put much time and effort on the disc and has been well received by many of our fans.
- You'll be on tour in Spain in October. I think this will be your first time in Spain alone, what can we expect from these shows?
- Well, this is a very energetic and fun band on stage. We try to give something a little different every night, keeping our sets spontaneous and fun.
- It will be a very long tour. I hope you like our country ...
- I've always said that Spain is my favorite country to tour: great people and beautiful scenery.
- Your biography says you're a self-taught musician. What led you to choose the guitar and what are your main influences?
- Well, I was a drummer originally, but I started playing guitar when I was about 10 years old. My father taught me [to play] the guitar, but then my first influence was Kurt Cobain. As I got older I were enjoying more soloists and Dimebag [Darrell], Stevie Ray Vaughan, Johnny Winter ... guys who played the guitar excellently but keeping the feeling.
- You played well in the County Daredevils Crank, what can you tell us then?
- It was a very fun in my life. I learned a lot about the tours and recordings with Crank County Daredevils. I learned what to do and what not to do while on tour with that band.
- After ordained Rory Kelly's Triple Threat, how did you get that sound swamp your own band from the Crank County Daredevils of sleaze?
- It was a natural progression for me. I took the elements of each style of music I liked and mixed them all. And then a little slow tempo.
- Your first album was "Better Than The Blues". What you tell us about that album?
- Originally it was supposed to be a demo. But then a small local label we edited it and began to catch on. I had a hard getting the students to re-record the bass parts because the guy who was temporarily unable to make the lines [low]. Then we get to Billy [Miller] and all took shape.
- Returning to the last album, "Do not Shake My Family Tree", you edited it just under the name of Rory Kelly. Why?
- Actually it was a decision everyone but me. It was against this, but our drummer Mike (who is also my father) and Billy thought it would be better without the "Triple Threat". Then Rusty Knuckles (our label) agreed, so I just did.
- You are in North Carolina, how is the rock scene there now? Is there a new band that you like and you want to share with us?
- The scene here is growing, and is a good time to be in the music scene in Asheville, NC. My new favorite band is the group of punk girls all of my wife, Zombie Queen.
- As you said before, your father Mike is the drummer of your band. Can not you do something weird?
- The truth is that it's pretty cool. It's a freak and likes to party and have fun with us on the road. But it is a huge battery and a lot of young guys who wanted the job were unable to play their parts. They wanted to make the battery more complicated and I wanted a way to John Bonham. So my father was perfect for the job ... plus it has a very good career and is a good teacher on the road.
- Well, we are finishing the interview, you want to add something to our readers?
- [In Castilian] We are excited to come to Spain and hope to see you all in October."

Crank County Daredevils - Bilbao, Spain 1.15.10
Found these photos on Flickr from a photographer in Bilbao, Spain from the 2010 European tour. Great live show photographer and has a ton of other great imagery. This was a crazy night for sure. We had no idea what we were in for, as we were looking for the normal type of punk rock bar then we pull up to this killer huge theater right in heart of old Bilbao. Bull fighting bars across the street, posh hotel and the Basque folks were more than gracious. The fellas in Crank County were opening up for the Bottle Rockets, who were great folks by the way. Well, the promoter and staff were awesome and the fans were amazing. But around 1am the place turned into a crazy dance club and damn if the real madness didn't begin. Those crazy Basque's would drink red wine and Coke, yeah, no shit, what the hell kind of drink is that? So of course they are having a good ol' time. Multiple near fights later after them grabbing drinks and thumping chests and throwing bravado and then after showing us how to swig their local flavor, all was cured. Bottoms up and hats off to one amazing city and hearty group of folks, Bilbao Spain we miss ya!
