Global music industry professionals to share insights on indie music opportunities at 2016 Golden Melody Festival

As the Golden Melody Awards & Festival is just around the corner, music industry professionals are also welcome to join in the festivities as the festival once again invites industry professionals to a three-day conference chock-full of talks on technology, ideas and cross-industry collaboration.
The three days of talks will take place between the 22nd and 24th of June, and will be at Taipei’s Humble House.

One of the talks will be given on opportunities for Independent (Indie) Music, a sector which has been experiencing much change and potential of late.

The festival has brought together five prominent global industry professionals as panelists for this particular talk, including Taiwan’s own Pochang Wu; founder of iNDIEVOX and lead singer of band ECHO who will be leading the proceedings.

Other panelists include global music industry representatives from the America Association of Independent Music (Jennifer Masset), Sounds Australia (Millie Millgate), The Orchard (Priyanka Dewan), and Modern Sky Entertainment (Shen Lihui).

Bringing together professionals who have made prominent contributions to independent music be they from the United States, Australia, Taiwan, China or Singapore, this talk is one you should definitely keep an eye on if you’re attending the festivities this year.

Machine Shed - Motorcycles Built For Riding In Australia

Creativity and soul are what we ultimately want to instill within all the things we work on. Intimate knowledge of how older machinery works and operates is a dying art. Many are quick to toss out things and buy new, but where does that knowledge go? Are our craftsman and shade tree mechanics drying up?

NASA is currently flummoxed by a similar problem as many of their engineers are getting older and only a small portion of their work force is below 35. Space, as the final frontier, is not being viewed in the way it was in the 1950's or 60's as the field has started to slow within innovation. Lockheed Martin is seeking new projects to keep the younger talent intrigued and to keep them in the work force.

Future technologies will help to shape how mechanical engineering evolves, but the best part is that most of what you need, is an analytical mind. To recharge the batteries though, forget about future technologies, for a bit. Go find something with a good bit of dust on it, which was built to last. Tear it apart and rebuild it anew for the sake of understanding a metal puzzle. Within those rusty bolts and gears, that need some fresh oil, is lesson 101 in mechanical engineering. Don't worry about it being perfect, just make it work again. Once that has been achieved, get back to the drawing board and do it up right.

"The results of our collaboration with Bandit Films have now culminated in the release of The Fuel Tank Annual Volume 1.

Over 2 1/2 hours of footage from the last 18 months have been re-mastered and collated on to a DVD.

You may have seen our films such as Rancho Deluxe, Factory 6, The Squire, Welcome to Murray Country, Much Much Go and The Modern Motor Cycle Company take shape over the last year or so. Those films have been re-edited, improved, and now sit on the disc alongside new films such as Chopped Rod & Custom, Camperdown Cruise and Martin Croston.

It's been an intense and mind blowing experience putting our first DVD together, and we apologise to those supportive folks who invested in us to pre-order the film some time ago. There have been many twists and turns on the road that made this happen, including plenty of unforseen hiccups and trip wires that got us along the way.

Your support means a lot, and we hope that you enjoy the results of the extra hours in the editing room.

Fuel Magazine Issue 10 - Launch Party

A lot of ideas have been in the works for an Australian tour and we are looking to invade at some point in the near future with several bands in tow. The only way we can think to do it right would be at least a two week run and to hit up many parts of the country and to do it on two wheels, from show to show. Once we get down under, we would also definitely dig getting to one of the launch parties held by Fuel Magazine, which is quite the quality read.

Fuel Magazine has Issue 10 coming out and will also pair it up with a DVD to further infuse a great product with even more badassery.

"It's that time of year again, the files are off to the printer, and we finally have the winter issue on the way. We thought we'd do something a bit different for a launch this time, particularly as we have the Fuel Tank DVD on sale at the same time, so we're off over to Adelaide. 

As usual, it's all very informal with no great planning involved. The guys n gals at Auto Transformers in Parafield Gardens have kindly let us have the event at their place. There is plenty of space to bring a car, bike, or other cool machine that you'd like to bring along. Even if the weather's not looking to flash, there's lots of indoor space so don't be put off.

  There may be a food van there, but that is yet to be confirmed. We can confirm that there will be cool cars, good music, and awesome people, so please come along and say hi. 

As a total coincidence, it's also editor Luke's birthday that day so there will most likely be a few quiet (ahem) drinks in the evening in Adelaide somewhere.

Here is a killer new bio piece on Paul McKinnon from Evolution Custom Ind in Sydney Australia speaking on his work and putting forth is best efforts every time he touches a new item to work with. We found this video over on Fuel Tank TV which is run by Fuel Magazine out of Australia. Really big fans of their magazine, especially when it comes to the content, design and overall vibe. They do a superb job and we hope to eventually advertise with them in some future issues.

Fuel Magazine New Posters

Just got the email this morning from the folks over at Fuel Magazine about some cool new posters they have in stock. It is always amazing how something so simple as a poster can make a room. With great photography and killer rides, what is not to like. Our choice is definitely that sweet Panhead as that fairing on there is just plain stylish and we have been lusting over a new kicker ride. Maybe we just outta throw that hot kickstart setup from Ledsled Customs onto our Buell Streetfighter build.

"Our first run of posters is now available. There are two designs, each double sided and each measuring 700mm wide by 500mm tall.

It was a tough call choosing the images after three years of work, but we think the results show a good spectrum of some the best photos that we have printed in the magazine so far. 

Poster 01 has the Camilleri Coupe on one side, and Marc Bank's awesome Porsche 356 outlaw on the other, and poster 02 has Vic O'Niel's salt racer on one side and the MACHINE built '50 Panhead on the other.

Or if you can't decide, get the twin pack and save on shipping.

The posters are printed on the same paper stock as Fuel Magazine, so if you have a copy you get an idea of the look and feel of these. 

These are printed in a run of 250 units each, and won't be printed again so they are limited items. If we do more posters at a later date, they will be totally different."

Fuel Magazine Issue 8

The folks down under at Fuel Magazine have just wrapped up Issue 8. Read below for more info and on how to order the latest and greatest from those folks.

Issue 08 is now here and on sale through our online store. It will be on newsagents shelves in Australia next Friday, 7th October. If you don't want to buy online, and you can't wait until it's in the shops, we'll be at the Chopped Rod & Custom Show this weekend. Issue 08 'Americana' is dedicated largely to our first Fuel Magazine trip to the States earlier this year. We got behind of the wheel of the Hotchkis Challenger, visted Viva Las Vegas, as well as some cool loactions around LA. 

On top of the great things we saw and experienced, we have contributions from some fantastic Amerian photographers throughout the issue. Marc Gewertz sent in photos of his brother Coby's awesome Church Magazine van, Peter Vincent takes us on a visual journey to the Bonneville salt flats, and we have some amazing pin up and fashion photography from contemporary photographers Shane McCauly and Vara Pappas. 

Top this all off with a Max Grundy feature! The issue is now bigger than before, with a higher page count, and an increase in thickness of about 20%. It really is packed with great stuff. Deus Festival Of The V-Twin

For all of yall stuck underneath a rock, there is quite a bit going on down under that damn near smokes what is happenin' in the US. Not saying that they could ever over take us, hehe, but damn if they don't put a good spin on all that is motor culture and for that they are brethren we could welcome into the shop anytime.

There is a great company thriving down there called Deus and they have made a solid footprint for themselves in "core" culture and are readily involved in motorcycles and surf circles, while also putting on great events. Take a look at a few of the photos we snagged from their viewable pdf aptly called the Festival Of The V-Twin. Dig into what they are doing as we hope to get down under on tour and will surely be looking these folks up.
