Catl, Last Show, European Tour Invasion, Part 10 - NOVI SAD, SERBIA

It's catl's last stop, before sweet home Canada!

Look for them this July, at Munich's Raut Oak Fest!

And don't forget, they'll be touring the U.S this year!

"We drove an hour with all our gear, our host Aleks, the driver Zoran, and Iggy the harp player, to the charmer of a town called, Novi Sad. The car was a small Ford ‘something or other,’ and you couldn’t squeeze a piece of rice into the cramped cabin if you wanted to."

catl-radio Novi Sad is on the air!

Our first stop in Novi Sad was a local radio station to promote the show that night. We had no idea what was being said.

Catl, European Tour Invasion, Part 9 - BELGRADE, SERBIA

catl's tour in Europe is winding down, and coming to an end...one more stop to go!

"We hopped in a van to get to Serbia, where we met our first, official, border hassle. The rather large Serb, with the machine gun, asked us for our papers for being musicians. We handed him the only things we had - our very ripped up itinerary, that had been in Sarah's purse all tour. That seemed to be enough, and off we went."
Near the outskirts of Belgrade at a toll booth. An incredible fog had descended on the city, which had lasted two weeks by the time we got there. This is one of many stray dogs. #fogdog

Catl, European Tour Invasion, Part 8 - BUDAPEST

It might have been a Sunday, but it didn't deter the rockers in Budapest from coming out to see catl!

Stunning architecture, delicious Turkish food, and welcoming/ beautiful people...these are some of the things Budapest is made of!

Check out what catl had to say about their Budapest stop!

Having a snack on the train. Sarah insists it's an elephant, Jamie says it's something else....
The train to Budapest, was the last train we took on the tour, and it was by far the most ghetto train of all. Rickety. Old. No food or drink. But it still looked fucking cool as hell! It made us miss the cushy trains we'd experienced earlier on this tour.

Catl, European Tour Invasion, Part 7- FELBACH, AUSTRIA

This here is the OFFICIAL VIDEO for 'Gold Tooth Shine'  Featuring Pete Ross on harmonica, and Dani Nash on extra vocals. Director: Brett Van Dyke, Cinematographer : Brett Van Dyke csc, Editor: Kyle McNair

Life on the road isn't always easy! Sometimes all you want is quite, a clean place to rest your head, and food that won't make you sick!

Thank goodness for the friends catl made in Europe! It helped make the rest of their European tour a comfortable success!

Read more about their travel success and tribulations in this, and future blogs!

"Our host Didi met us at the train station and we went straight for dinner. Sarah couldn’t eat anything on our second train (the ‘ghetto’ train) because she's vegetarian and celiac so she was starting to chew on her drumsticks for sustenance."

Catl, European Tour Invasion, Part 6 - PRAGUE

Canadian greats, catl, have been hitting the road hard!

Here's a peak into the fun, and struggles, they have been encountering on their European tour!

Jamie's ongoing amp roulette - Marshal Stack baby!

"We traveled on the train for about 8 hours, to get to this weird little pub in the middle of a park. It was their staff Christmas party, and they were handing out gifts, like socks with 'Jameson's' written on them. They were also pretty well oiled, just like the rest of Europe.
There were long pauses after our songs ended, and they seemed to like it with some polite applause; but when we threatened to stop playing, they got feisty and wanted us to keep going. One fella stopped us afterwards, and said our music was 'good quality'. We said 'thanks but our hygiene is becoming of very poor quality', and he stared at me blankly.

Need To Help Out Your Tour, Enlist Copperheads

Truth is stranger than fiction. We recently drew a copperhead for a new graphic based on a voodoo altar and now they want to go on tour, by showing up at our back door. Rory Kelly, needs to lay down some leads and sooth the beasts! The Voodoo Magic is working way too good!

Antiseen playing Slow End Fest in Holland, May 18th - 19th 2012

Slow End Fest
Perron 55 – Venlo – The Netherlands
May 18/19 2012
1 day ticket: 15 euro
Combi ticket: 25 euro
www.slowendfest.com

Slow End Fest is a brand new festival in the Southern part of The Netherlands. Two days filled with the crème de la crème from the underground; slow and fast music with a similar DIY attitude. One can expect hardcore-punk, grindcore, crustcore, sludge and metal. Our philosophy is: “If we like it, we book it!” That’s why this festival won’t adjust itself to certain hypes or scenes. We challenge you to think out of the box and step into the moshpit!

We are proud to announce the first 14 bands of the total 28 to be playing at the festival.

Alpinist (DE)
www.myspace.com/alpinistsucks
Dark Hardcore, aggressive and melodic. Insane live band and excellent musicians. If this didn’t convinced you yet, then buy their record at Southern Lord records. They will kick your butt for sure!

Antiseen (USA)
www.antiseen.com
Antiseen is both so far beyond what punk rock is usually seen as and exactly what punk rock should be. The lack of concern about anything but what they believe, an utter disregard for mainstream success. This exclusive Dutch appearance will kick up some dust for sure. Be ready to catch it.

Aunt Acid (NL)
Sleazy and downtuned Rock 'n Roll straight from the bowels of Hades (a.k.a. Horst). Spawned from the ashes that were once known as HSML, Aunt Acid sets out to groove and clobber with a different vocal approach courtesy of Woooow Bobby (Cowboys from Hell). Fusing the likes of Motorhead, Iron Monkey and Alabama Thunderpussy with pagan midgets, rabid sluts and knife wielding apes as inspiration, this band is out to destroy wimps and posers alike. Let's rock.

Blind to Faith (BE/NL)
Established late 2008, Blind To Faith is a vehicle for pure, unadulterated metal punk. Stripped down to the very core and essence, Blind To Faith wears its influences on its sleeve: Discharge, Repulsion, Celtic Frost, Eyehategod, Gehenna, Darkthrone, Entombed, Today Is The Day... to name a few. Features members of Rise and Fall, Reproach, Amen Ra, Insult (nl).

Catheter (USA)
Catheter was originally vomited upon the earth in 1997 in the form of a crustcore band with metal influences. Catheter formed the trademark southwest doom violence sound. After many tours through Europe and the USA, this three-piece knows how to rumble.

Dodsfalla (USA)
Dodsfalla hails from the USA and plays dark metallic crust! Features members of Catheter.

Feast (NL)
Under the chromium filled smoke which fills the skies in the ymond region Feast emerged as the flag bearers of dark and heavy music. The band featuring current- and ex members of bands like Samaritan, Mankind, Omission, Point of few and Gilgamesh delivers an auditorial onslaught which will kill any zombie invasion in sight. True survival of the decibels is at hand...

Obnoxious Youth (SW)
www.facebook.com/obnoxiousyouth
Super well played snotty hardcore punk that draws on numerous inspirations from old shit like R.K.L./Ill Repute/Adrenalin O.D. and the likes to old hard rock and even some psych. These guys are not afraid to go all the way. This is still a hardcore punk there's just so much more to it.....Full on Uppsala madness. Will knock your heads off.

Resurrectionists (DE)
Intense fast and furious grindcore/power violence band from Germany with the heart on the right place, a vegan lifestyle and a atheist attitude. They blast as fast as possible, unbelievable!

Scheisse Minelli (DE)
www.scheisseminnelli.com
Scheisse Minnelli is a Skate/Punk band based in Germany. The band was started in late 2003 by two native Californians and two Germans. The current line up features an all German music section and the lone Californian Samuel el Action on vocals. The band is rounded out with Dudel on drums, Dash on bass and Crack on guitar. The band is on a mission to make punk dangerous again.

Streetwalker (USA)
www.myspace.com/streetwalkerseattle
A recently formed four-piece band with female vocals. Toured in the USA a few times and released an album on Unrest records. Dark, heavy, loud, adrenaline-fueled thrash/grind, featuring Joe Rizzi from Hail of Rage. They are ready to shred overseas for the first time!

Verbal Abuse (USA)
No introduction needed as Verbal Abuse are one of the classic examples of early USA hardcore punk! Go see them!

Villainy (NL)
Villainy was created in 2010 in the South of The Netherlands. In this part of The Netherlands the roughness of the coalmine era still shows its marks. These young thrashers show us how to create an awesome metal party like it’s 1986-66. Think Celtic Frost meets Venom!!

Wolfbeast Destroyer (UK)

www.myspace.com/wolfbeastcrust
Motorcrust from the UK, inspired by Disfear, Doom, Amebix, Wolfbrigade and Motorhead. Straight forward crust core at it’s best! And we are proud to let them spread their motor stench in mainland Europe for the first time!

Reno Divorce Smokin' European Stages

Just got an email from Tye in Reno Divorce that they are having a killer tour and everything is going over solid. It is to be expected from such a pro band. First time I got to see the fellas live as a full band was at our showcase during SXSW this year at the Dirty Dog Saloon. While setting up and about to hit the stage Tye comes rollin' up with all their sound requirements written down and ready to rock. That said it all to me as their sound and presence is huge onstage and their professionalism about showtime is way beyond good. If Reno Divorce isn't headlining 1000 capacity venues in the immediate futre the world truly is potentially going to hell.

Funny enough Reno Divorce ended up playing a big festival date with the German Green Day inspired band Itchy Poopzkid. We were doing a show in Switzerland on one of the last nights of the Crank County Daredevils 2010 European tour and played a big show with them. Amazing club in Solothurn that had two huge rooms and same backstage for both rooms. Regardless of how funny the name Itchy Poopzkid sounds, as its completely lost in translation, they were really down to earth fellas and had drinks with them at some fashion show after party, we all got invited to. Oh Switzerland, how we all miss you, as everything is legal except for choppers and hot rods but the people are hands down cool as hell.
