The World’s First “Acoustically Perfect” Concert Hall Opens in Germany

The newly opened Elbphilharmonie concert hall in Hamburg, Germany is a visually stunning structure from a design perspective, with its gorgeous wave-shaped facade, curved elevators, and its seemingly endless stairs. However, the focal point of the $843 million building is its one of a kind central auditorium designed specifically for a balanced sound throughout the concert hall.

As reported by Wired, Swiss architectural firm Herzog and De Meuron worked alongside One to One studio to painstakingly build the coral reef-like structure from 10,000 unique acoustic panels lining the ceiling, walls, and balustrades.

Ronnie James Dio: Heavy Metal Icon Returns From The Dead In Germany

Ronnie James Dio passed away in 2010 after battling stomach cancer. On Saturday, Germany held their heavy metal Wacken Open Air music festival and fans were stunned when they saw what appeared on the stage. They saw Dio, in hologram form, perform as it yelled out the heavy metal anthem “We Rock.” The Dio hologram also flashed the famous “devil horns” hand gesture that Ronnie made famous.

Tyrolean's Off To These Orchestral Craftsmen

Tyrolean's Off To These Orchestral Craftsmen

Sound by definition, are the vibrations that travel through the air or another medium and can be heard when they reach a person's or animal's ear. What constitutes those sounds and to what we hear and discern from them are all based upon our own preference.

What makes one band better than another? What gives a guitar a certain warm tone? Many of these elements come into play with the materials that make up the instrument or the way an individual uses a certain skill set create the soundscape with the tool at hand.

Tyrolean's off to these orchestral craftsmen who use a simple and effective sheet metal tool box to create a cacophony of sound that is pure rhythm and absolute utilitarian. Next time you blame your gear for acting up, maybe you should just get back to the basics.

Rory Kelly - German Review, For "Kings Never Sleep"

Rory Kelly - Kings Never Sleep

Order your copy of the Album now

Link to original post

"Rory Kelly and his band were probably previously in North Carolina more like local patriots, via a few detours, the band is then advised on a few gigs in Europe and is now here in June have some performances. The matching band now also advertises her third album produced in-house Kings Never Sleep in our latitudes.

Kings Never Sleep comes with eleven songs, which are located at the Hard Rock, but Rory Kelly has this quite strongly perfumed with the scent of Southern Rock. "Molly Hatchet Light" it is probably true quite good, but this is meant more appreciative because disrespectfully.

In contrast to other acts of this genre the songs sound, despite all the roughness, but quite airy and are also easily accessible. Kelly's voice sounds like pure whiskey and thus fits well with the blue-based guitar riffs.

I like this"

Reno Divorce - Rave Reviews From Germany

Reno Divorce's - Lover's Leap scores a great review in German magazine Pressure
Link to original post

"Reno Divorce publish with "Lover's Leap" their new album. It contains 13 tracks, has a playing time of 38 minutes and will appear under the label Rusty Knuckles.

The four musicians are not, as one might judge by name, from Reno - but from Denver and the sound is absolutely superb! Punk rock, can be compared without flinching with Social Distortion and also must: one thinks for a moment, that this is yet another band of mastermind Mike Ness, but which is not so. The vocals of frontman Brent Loveday is almost identical to 100% with Mr. Ness. Not exactly the worst comparison and not the worst gift to have such a voice. With the title track "Lover's Leap" and "Sunsets & Corvettes" album starts well, but the longer it goes, the more the title. Then there's "I'll Always Be Your Slave", "Every Second Counts" and "GED Sweetheart" towards the end again extremely successful songs. The album was recorded at the legendary studio The Blasting Room (Rise Against, The Descendents) and this result can be more than excellent.

Reno Divorce put out an absolutely great album, which scores with first-class punk rock songs at any time. No failure, great melodies, great vocals and excellently produced. Clear five stars!"

Reno Divorce Reviewed By Smash Magazine

This is a rough translation below from German, which isn't exactly our every day speaking tongue so bare with us. There are a lot of great comments though, once again proving that music needs very little translation. Reno Divorce is the band that will be breaking through to big stages in 2013.

Check out Smash-Mag.com

"Reno Divorce from Denver, Colorado to bring the punk not necessarily with new sounds, but create quite a spectacular panorama with "Lover's Leap". Imagine about a mix of punk lebensbejahendem brand Blink 182, which has a relationship with the street coolness of Social Distortion is received. This is in most places pretty earthy smells of sweat, but always the right amount of pop on board. This is the title song is a wallowing matter that is also not too far from the nostalgic storytelling of Bruce Springsteen. The songs of "Lover's Leap" unite the urgency of punk rock with the narrative tradition of folk and Americana that is truly an original American version of this genre. Reno Divorce created so although nothing genuinely new or Independent, they plow through it but still fertile field. So "Sunsets" also acts more like a holding in sepia tones road movie, stylish, presented without undue haste, a song that succeeds so only a band that sits firmly in the saddle. And even such a mood number like "Time Flies When You're Having Fun" is somehow put forward leaning back, so Reno Divorce act like the adult brothers of Orange County punk scene. In the song manifests a soul quiet confidence that the individual pieces gives a solid foundation unagitated. So then does a very grown so coming saxophone in "Make Sure You're Sure" not like a foreign body, but as a welcome addition to the soundscape. What this album certainly lacks is a revolutionary component of punk music, this is not a society turned upside down. One can even state that this music is a little convenient, not the last of energy from the pieces brings out but this is what is somehow pleasing. Here the big boys, juvenile bustle and excitement must stay outside. Reno Divorce go quite so well protected on the middle of the road, and in this case must not be criticized, because the artistic execution was carried convincingly and authentically."

Did The AMD Bike Build Winner, Get Styling Cues From Shinya?

Did the AMD 2012 Motorcycle build winner, get styling cues from Shinya Kimura? After looking at various photos I can see a lot of similar vibes. Not that it is bad to emulate such a standout bike, but Shinya's bike is the Samurai warrior compared to Thunderbike of Germany's Steampunk. Each has amazing lines and a distinct personality but the grit and assymetrical lines of Shinya's ups the ante beyond another build. The Spike is pure soul.

Reno Divorce - European Tour 2012

The fellas are playing stages far and wide for their three week trek across the pond. One of the big highlights was playing to over 2000 folks in downtown Berlin. Here is some info coming in from the fellas over on their news section of RenoDivorceBand.com

5.3.12

"It's hard at times to truly be able to give fans and family a good perspective of life on the road unless you have been out here with us.  I know that most of you live from a perspective of, those guys are just on one big long vacation of endless parties countless adoring fans and an imaginary road crew that travels with us so that we just walk out on to the stage.....as good as that sounds it is very far from the norm...we work extremely hard out here with no days off most of the time, all in the hope that more than 25 people will show up to the club that night to enjoy the show along with buying up some merch so that we will have enough gas to get down the road to the next city.  The shows in the Czech Republic were ones that I thought would be some of the biggest, but in the end turned out a little light, which manly has to do with promotion and the fact that we played on the same night as one of their favorite holidays, but a HUGE thanks goes out to all the adoring CZ fans that came out those nights to watch us.  Now please, do not take from this that i'm complaining at all, as a band we have done things that most bands back home would beg to do, but at times I fill my head with doubt and wonder if the hours and hours that I have spent away from my, our, families and friends is paying off.....then we are treated to the show we had in BERLIN!!!

Reno Divorce at Kuz Kreuz in Germany
Strolling through Dresden, Germany
We did not expect this show to be as big as it was.  A few years ago we were fortunate enough to be asked to play at the With Full Force Festival, which a band at our level was very lucky to play, we performed in front of more than 3000 out of control german fans, which thus far has been the highlight of our careers.  Now the show in Berlin I predicted at best would be a small festival where we played on the grass underneath a tent....I couldn't have been more wrong.  We were set up on a mobile stage right in the middle of downtown Berlin where I'm guessing at least 2000 watched and more than 6 to 8000 people passed by as we played.  "Mayday" in Berlin in like nothing I have experienced.  We saw at least 60 to 80 police vans and 500 or more cops dressed in full riot gear....it was fucking insane.  See what I mean....the turn around.

The gig that was played here in Zlotow, PL at the Generator club was rad!!  This is a town that we have never played before and had no idea how it would turn out....Thank you to all the new fans that came out and to the hospitality of the promoter and his crew. I can only hope that the pictures come out showing the crowd at different times during the show lifting Brent and I up to crowd surf while we were still playing come out, that was a first for both of us.  Now, I'm not saying that while this was happening my guitar playing was any good but I did give it my all and was praying that they weren't going to drop me on my head.  This is an area without a doubt that we want and will come back to.

So tonight we are off to Warsaw and without jinxing anything I only see blue skies ahead"

"So the first time we were in Italy was over 2 1/2 years ago, when we played only one date while on tour with the US Bombs...So the first 5 dates of the tour (aside from the first one in Timelkam) started in Italy.

The first question I had was answered extremely quickly, "Will the Italian's coffee reputation hold up?"  Oh my GOD, it surpassed all my expectations and the best part was the price.  It was much cheaper than we normally pay at home.  Now the bad news is that I'm going to have to go back on regular coffee which before was very enjoyable but now fails in comparison to it's Italian counterpart.

We want to give a huge thank you to all the fans that came out to these first 5 shows.  Playing during the week is usually hit and miss anyway, but everything ran very smooth and being able to have a little bit of time to visit the Colosseum in Rome was also a huge treat.  There are so many things that the band would like to have time to stop and check out but when you have 5 and 6 hour drives everyday it normally just isn't possible.

The first gig was in Kaltern which is actually a german speaking region, day 2 in Massa, day 3 in Rome, day 4 in Montecchio, and the final day in Rho/ Milan.  All of the promoters treated us with tons of respect and are looking forward to the next time we come back.  We also were very fortunate to make friends with a band that has been touring Europe for a while....THE MAHONES!!  This is a great band and just a wonderful group of people to hang out with.  At last years Sjock festival in Holland we only talked with them briefly before they hit the stage, so this was a cool opportunity to be able to play a few shows with them.  I know that from our end, we would be more than happy to be able to do more shows with Finny, his wife Katie and the rest of the boys!!!  Thanks guys

Food to go in Italy, small salad of Mozzarella and tomatoes
Fans in Italy were stoked to see the band
Italy brought an amazing welcome reception to Reno Divorce
Another great highlight of these shows was the gig in Montecchio in which we played a show with the legendary punk band 7 Seconds.  Kevin and the guys could not have been nicer to us and we are really looking forward to our gig with them tomorrow in Fulda.  Most of their set consists of their earlier music from the first two albums....Lots of energy and a pleasure to watch..

To close out, our close friend Doug who is here with us to help out with the merch is still here and the good news is that he made it past the first week without taking the first plane back to the States.  We win....anyway look for another tour update in a few days...... L8R

The Legacy Of The Porsche 911

The legacy of Porsche lost one of its greatest innovators today in Ferdinand Alexander Porsche, who designed a legendary ride, in the Porsche 911. With a purity of vision in clean lines and rounded shapes, matched with a robust powertrain, the 911 would become iconic in the innovations in compared to the American auto market.

Ferdinand Alexander Porsche and his famous car design
For a rich kid kicked out of design school, Ferdinand Alexander Porsche created one of the greatest legacies in automotive design with the Porsche 911 — one that will survive far beyond Porsche's death today at the age of 76.

The son of company founder Ferry Porsche, F.A. or "Butzi" as he was known spent most of his career at his eponymous firm Porsche Design, where he oversaw the styling of thousands of products from watches to yachts, many with the tag "Designed by F.A. Porsche."

But it's the 911's emergence in 1964, when Butzi Porsche was just 25 years old, that made him a historic figure. While his father and grandfather had been famous German engineers — the original Ferdinand Porsche engineered the first Volkswagen Beetle — F.A. Porsche chose to study design. A year after enrolling in a prestigious school, Porsche was in his own words "kicked out," and took at job at his father's fledging car business in 1957.

At the time, Ferry Porsche had created the successful Porsche 356, but needed a follow-up model. He set the car's basic layout —a rear engine, a short wheelbase for agile handing — but pushed the designers and engineers to fashion a more sporting look than the men who built the Beetle had produced so far.

Prowling the auto shows of Europe, F.A. Porsche formed an idea of how the car should look as a smooth, curving fastback, rejecting the flat angles popular in American cars of the era. "I just think you start creating edges when the body of a car is bad…they are lines that support something that ties the designer down," Porsche would say years later.

The new car's design spurred a dispute with the older designers in Ferry Porsche's shop, to such a degree Ferry went around them, taking his son's blueprints to the body fabricator. The first production-ready model, called the 901, appeared at the Frankfurt Auto Show in September 1964, and after Peugeot objected to the name, Porsche changed it to 911. Despite the timelessness of the 911's shape, F.A. Porsche believed his greatest design came a few years later, with the Porsche 904 race car.

When the company went public in 1971, the Porsche family withdrew from management roles — although F.A. Porsche would remain a presence on the company's board and in its design studios. "He established a design culture in our company that has shaped our sports cars to this very day," said Matthias Müller, President and Chief Executive Officer of Porsche AG. "His philosophy of good design is a legacy to us that we will honor for all time."
