Cool Maker Embossed Antique Drill Bit Indexer From Ebay

Cool Maker Embossed Antique Drill Bit Indexer From Ebay

Finding vintage and cool unique tools is something for which I am forever on the hunt for. One of my favorite hunting sites is called Collectors Weekly. What they post within articles, ebay feeds and as a general search is mind boggingly great. Forget the notion of wasting time, instead think about time well spent on an amazing site. Get over there daily and find your particular rabbit hole to slide down into.

Original ebay post

Maker embossed to the 'New Process Twist Drill C-Taunton, Mass'. Substantial size at 6 x 1 inch. Some smallish casting voids around the bottom outside - cosmetic - see photos. The smallest hole does have the remains of a bit, so would have to be drilled out if bits are to be added. If no bits, then fine for display. Overall excellent plus collector condition. Buyer will be very pleased with this rare old drill index...

The best damn drill bit holder we have ever seen

Motorcycle racing is at the heart of all two wheeled culture. It doesn't matter when you hop on your trusty steed, but with the pull of the throttle, speed addiction sets in faster than the comfort zone when hitting your favorite easy chair. Seeing a bike like this up for sale, makes the internal fire for racing climb the charts and want to pull the trigger on obtaining such a perfect period piece of motorcycle racing history. Old Ducati's have a true collectible factor and this one exudes the notion.

TRUE barn find!!! And "yes" the engine does turn. This bike has been kept in a barn for 30 years+. It is 95% original from what i can see. It has the following original parts, Frame, Fenders, Handlebars, Engine, Dash, Speedo (Corbin) very expensive, springer front end, Horn, Headlight (cycle ray), Primary cover, Tool Box, Seat, Floor boards, Rims and Tires (Firestone), they even seem to be original and from the looks of the wear on the floor boards, it doesn't seem like it was ridin much i reckin'. I've seen these bikes go for 30-40K restored and not with this many original parts. 1964 Harley Davidson XLCH Sportster Café Racer Could Be Yours

1964 Harley Davidson XLCH Sportster Café Racer

In the market for a freshly built cafe racer based on a 1964 Harley Ironhead heart beat? Look no further as this one is for sale and currently on ebay. What makes this bike so damn nice are the clean lines and the slick attention to detail. Cafe Racers all seem to function in a very similar style, but it is nice to see an old Ironhead being placed in this machine and not just as the core to a run of the mill chopper. The entire bike has been tastefully built and surely runs as smooth.

Beauty Through Simplicity, A 1948 Panhead That Needs Little To No Introduction

1948 Panhead found via ebay, which is now no longer for sale.
"I do believe in simplicity. It is astonishing as well as sad, how many trivial affairs even the wisest thinks he must attend to in a day; how singular an affair he thinks he must omit. When the mathematician would solve a difficult problem, he first frees the equation of all incumbrances, and reduces it to its simplest terms. So simplify the problem of life, distinguish the necessary and the real. Probe the earth to see where your main roots run." - Henry David Thoreau

Motorcycle History Could Be Yours, Rare Honda Up For Sale

1969 Honda Sandcast CB750

Bid on this rare sandcast prototype machine on Ebay

THE CB750 SANDCAST PROTOTYPE!

THE HISTORY

Many know the story of the first Superbike: when Mr. Soichiro Honda started a 4 cylinder revolution back in 1969, with his “King of Motorcycles”. It was the bike that changed motorcycling.

That CB750 featured a transverse in-line 4 cylinder 736cc engine, that produced 67 horsepower, and a top speed of 125 miles per hour.  It also came with an electric starter and a disc brake!

The first 7000 or so CB750s that came off the factory assembly line in Japan back in 1969, had engine cases that were cast in sand.

Those scarce early sandcast CB750s now regularly command high prices amongst collectors around the world.

1969 Honda CB750, one of the first super bikes
Right side view of the rare CB750 from Honda

THE PROTOTYPE

What only some sandcast aficionados know, is that before the now rare sandcast CB750s were produced in 1969, Honda determined that they first needed to build a set of “preproduction” prototypes to market their “The King of Motorcycles” to the American public.  So in 1968 they decided to build samples of this new ground breaking CB750 to unveil at their annual Las Vegas Motorcycle Dealer Show, as well as to provide eye-candy for the various trade magazines, and for promotional photography, advertisements, etc.

What Honda sent over to the U.S. were 4 preproduction bikes:

A Candy Red prototype
A Candy Gold prototype
A Candy Dark Green Metallic prototype
And the feature of this special auction, the Candy Blue/Green prototype

These 4 special preproduction bikes were literally hand-built by Honda technicians, using many hundreds of unique one-off preproduction parts, to promote their new flagship line of motorcycles.

The unique character of these rare preproduction bikes is readily noticeable when examining each and every component part.  For example:

One-off sandcast engine covers, featuring an external “double step” on the Alternator cover
A wedge shaped transmission cover, fitting UNDER the Alternator cover
Very unusual clutch and valve covers (both appearing nothing like the street bike counterparts, and are very rough cast)
A one of a kind Billet Crankshaft (meaning it was turned and machined from one solid chunk of special steel bar)
Chrome fenders showing (under the chrome plating) engineer’s scribe marks to mark off where holes should be drilled
Hand hammered/welded exhaust pipes
One-off special cast by Keihin 26mm carb assemblies
Handmade white plastic parts throughout the motorcycle (while street version bikes have all black pieces)
Longer rear fender having brazed on turn signal stems
A 43 tooth rear sprocket (vs. 45 for production)
No handlebar kill switch
No provision for a tool tray under the seat
Sandcast “hollow” fuel tank emblems
Cast gas cap and latch
And literally hundreds more of distinctly different parts than standard, many of which are illustrated in the enclosed photos (Note: ALL vintage American Honda photos and flyers seen here are of the exact bike in this auction)

The Motorcyclist - April 1969 Featuring the Honda CB750

What ever happened to those rare first four hand built bikes?

The Red bike was taken to the crushers in Iowa back in the early 1990s (I know, as we got there literally days too late, coming away with only a small handful of parts from it).

The Gold bike made its way to Europe, only to be completely disassembled by its owner (who has no intention of selling) and it has remained in that state for the last 25 years or so.

The Dark Green bike has never been heard from, thus leaving this (Blue/Green) bike left of the four.

The Blue/Green prototype motorcycle featured in this auction just happens to also be the (only) one American Honda used for all of its initial promotional brochures, flyers, and sales literature. Example photos of these early promotional items can be seen here, and most easily identified by the bike's very unusual front brake caliper.

I located this Prototype motorcycle through a friend some years ago, and quickly decided that it in fact did not need “restoration”, but rather just needed to be cleaned up and put back together, as the original paint and overall condition was quite nice. It is a very strong running motorcycle.

Please view the attached photographs to see more about this extraordinary motorcycle. Note: Where you see similar components shown in the same photo, it is simply a comparison between the part from this prototype, vs. a stock CB750 part.

Up Front details abound and check out sexy 4 into 2 pipes

ABOUT THE SELLER:

Vic World has a passion for Honda CB750s; that revolutionary motorcycle that turned the industry on it’s ear back in the summer of ’69.  His particular area of expertise, is in the restoration of the rare early sandcast bikes, that were the first to roll off Honda’s Hamamatsu line back in early ’69.  His thirty plus years of relentless focus on this motorcycle, has earned him the moniker of “Mr. CB750.”  Vic is widely acknowledged as the premier restorer of these rare bikes and he has been written about in many trade publications, including a feature article by Mitch Boehm in Motorcyclist Retro.  His restorations are highly sought after and have been purchased by museums, including a featured exhibition in Honda’s own Collection Hall Museum in Japan.  American Honda owns a Vic World restoration, as does the Barber Museum in Birmingham, Alabama. Mr. World resides in San Francisco, where he operates World Motorcycles, a shop that specializes in the restoration of sandcast CB750s.

BIDDING:

Regarding current values of sandcast 750s:

As a point of reference, fully restored sandcasts (with a "normal" 4 digit frame number) are currently selling at just under 40,000 dollars, with 3 digit bikes (Frame numbers 999 and under) fetching a 20% premium on top of that, and 2 digit bikes fetching more.

As well, a couple years ago, I sold a very low number (under Frame #20) unrestored sandcast to a collector for $75,000. This bike still was from assembly line production, using mass produced parts.
This auction is a unique, once in a lifetime opportunity to own a piece of motorcycling history. The CB750 Honda had substantially more impact on motorcycling than any other motorcycle. And this Prototype is easily what would be referred to as the Holy Grail of CB750s...The center piece of any world class collection of motorcycles.

If you are the lucky winner of this auction, you will own something that nobody else in the world owns.  There has been some strong pre-auction buzz about this bike from collectors around the world.  So, if you really want to own this bike, please bid accordingly.

Need A Winter Shovelhead Project Bike?

1974 Shovelhead Superglide ready for a new project
Many times while wanting to search for parts or potential projects, I wake up early and start to scour ebay for random ideas. After running across much over priced items and or things that just seem too good to be true, then a potential gem pops up. If you are in need of a Shovelhead project bike to be ready for 2014, this gem might fit the bill.

Link to ebay listing

"I'm selling my 1974 Harley SuperGlide Shovelhead.  Original frame, motor trans, I'm not sure what else.  Bike starts on the second kick, or immediately with the electric start.  I bought this bike from a local shop a few months ago but I cant afford to keep her.  Title is clear with matching numbers.  She runs good and rolls smooth.  Motor was redone about 500 miles ago, and she runs strong.  I've got a video below of her starting and running.  Give me a call at (239) 961-0732 if you have any questions."

1931 Harley-Davidson VL Could Be Yours

Vintage bikes are an element of beauty to some, collector pieces to another and most of all if you plan to ride them regularly, be quite good with a wrench. Flathead motors have always looked great and that small power plant feels tiny in comparison to the bigger motors of today, but don't let horsepower get in the way of pure aesthetic. The older bikes had clean lines and very little extra in the way of accoutrements to clutter up their design. Seeing this bike on ebay makes me realize how I crave to have at least one Flathead and one Knucklehead in my quiver of rides.

"Ok boys and girls, Here is your chance to own an a Antique Harley Davidson VL, that has been proven to be a great runner, as well as a show stopper. This machine would make a great contender for the 2014 Cannonball Run since it has been opened to 1936 and older bikes. Ride the cannon Ball with speed comfort this year. Its time to make way for another project, so I am offering my recently built 1931 Harley Davidson VL Bobber, in an eye-catching  paint scheme of Maroon and Cream  This VL  has a 1931 lower end, and a 1935 upper. This example was completed early in 2012. The bike has been ridden reliably as my daily rider, and has been on a few road runs, as well as to some cruise nights, and is fully operational in every aspect. It is geared for the highway and has no trouble cruising at 60MPH with power to spare. The frame and forks have not been cut up or modified. This could be restored to an AMCA points bike with the addition of a front fender and a few other pieces. The bike will be sold as-is where is, and no guarantee of any kind. 1942 Civillianized Harley Davidson WLA, True Original Barn Find

"You are looking at a 1942 Harley Davidson WLA barn find. . . It has been civillianized as you can see, not all parts are for a 1942, but most everything is original Harley Davidson parts. I was going to get it unstuck, make it run & ride it as is, but unfortunately i have to part with it. It comes to the new owner with a clean title, & unaltered VIN pad, which matches the title as a 1942 Harley WLA.

Look closely at the pictures, it has the original Goodyear super eagle tires (poor condition) that hold air, it rolls nicely, the throttle works, the spark advance is movable, but needs cleaned/greased. The front brake works, has big twin rockers & brake assembly, the rear brake is free & works as well. Has 16" KH wheels, inline springer fork, correct M88 Linkert

Tanks look to be in good usable condition with the usual cleaning. Did not get to play with the motor or trans. The transmission fill plug is wired to the handlebar, as i received it. I was going to pull & rebuild the motor & trans & ride it as is because it is only original Harley once! Forced to part with it, but now you have a chance to build your dreams. I can be reached at slim42wl @ gmail for more pics or direct questions. Sorry, no off site deals or negotiating!"
