Great songs get re-recorded and redone by many an artist, but what we find quite interesting is when you can start to see the individual personalities come out of the song. Have a listen to Jay Berndt's version that was just recorded for the Broadside Basement Sessions. Brian, Bill and Jay give the song more of an uplifting approach compared to another more famous version done by Johnny Cash. With Johnny close to the end of his life in the recording, you can feel him saying goodbye and that contrasts in a great way to the composition of Jay Berndt's. Maybe its just a passing of the torch, but any which way ya shake it, god might just cut ya down.
Sorry, couldn't put the real version of Johnny Cash's song in, embedding was disabled
