Mason of Rickett Pass and Buck Thrailkill Jam On Nechville Banjos

Mason of Rickett Pass and Buck Thrailkill Jam On Nechville Banjos

Words below, From Mason Tinsley of Rickett Pass regarding a special gift to him from a friend and the folks at Nechville Banjos

Dig into Nechville Banjos

"Last spring at the Muddy Roots Spring Weekender I met Buck Thrailkill and instantly hit it off. Talking trash about banjo picking and taking cracks at how old he is. ( He is pretty old ) I knew he worked with Rusty Knuckles, but really knew him as a banjo master even though he will deny it. He introduced me to his good friend Steve Longan. Talk about a clown and talk about an instant friendship. All three of us had very similar jobs In the Army which is a bond only few can understand.

How Many Streams Equal The Sale Of One Album? Who The Hell Cares, Write Music That Everyone Wants To Hear, But They Don't Know It Yet

How Many Streams Equal The Sale Of One Album?
Music is everywhere around us. Whether it be the rhythm of bull frogs chirping in unison on a warm summer night or a perfectly balanced and tuned engine, a syncopated noise is happening everywhere we go. What was once considered a high art form, has now just become a commodity as cheap as a bowl of Ramen noodles.

This is not a sad state of affairs, but a natural evolution that creates a leveling of the playing field and one ripe for opportunity. Bands can now afford to record on their own and do it for a minimal budget. Be thankful for the opportunity as now you have the potential to create your own future and do it on your own terms. Where as only a few decades back, the struggle was to be heard on a national level and to be signed to a huge recording act. Now in a matter of hours a song could be crafted and uploaded to the masses.

Get your copy of the new album now

"I have always wanted to sit down at a cafĂ© table with Tom Waits and Iggy Pop along with Pia Zadora…. I have now just added Motobunny to this epitome of rock and pop culture imagery. Motobunny’s music is a thematic twist of, “C’mon and get it boys ‘cuz we are bad aces!”

I now need to adjust my leather skirt, straighten my fish nets, and apply my wicked luscious shade of femme fatale.

Motobunny Appearing Live On The Roland Sessions Stage

Motobunny Appearing Live On The Roland Sessions Stage
Roland Sessions is a live music performance series. This episode features the band Motobunny. They are performing their song “Thinkin’ About Me.”

Motobunny formed after members of two acclaimed rock bands, The Love Me Nots and The Woolly Bandits got on stage together in 2013. After years of sharing green rooms, tour vans, and seedy motel rooms, it was the first time they had performed as one band and the electricity was undeniable. Together they dashed off songs for a dual-frontwomen rock collaboration, enlisted the help of Love Me Nots drummer Jay Lien, and headed to Detroit to record a full-length album with Jim Diamond (White Stripes, Electric Six, Dirtbombs). Mixed by Bob Hoag (The Format, Dear and The Headlights, Ataris), and mastered by Jason Livermore (Rise Against), the result is 12 tracks of tough rock n’ roll topped off with a girls-just-wanna-have-fun attitude.

Motobunny Feature Review In The Lincoln Star Journal

Motobunny Feature Review In The Lincoln Star Journal

"From the first note of “The Other Side” on its self-titled debut, Motobunny comes on with hooky rock ‘n’ roll and keeps its garagey, glam-tinged sound going through the final ring out of “I Warned You."

Motobunny’s the result of a post-Iggy Pop concert union of Christa Collins, who’s played and recorded with, among others, Michael Jackson, Little Richard and Sky Saxon of the Seeds fame, and who fronts the Woolly Bandits, and Nicole Laurenne, a child classical pianist and lead singer of the Love Me Nots.

Music On Vinyl Records Is More Valuable Than Money, Find Out Why A Laser Vinyl Player Could Change Your Life

Crafting the perfect laser angle to play within the grooves of a vinyl record

Sound purists and vinyl auteur's flock to discussions about sound quality within analog recordings. The big difference is the depth and warm of sound on a vinyl record compared to that of a cd due to the compression of the sound wave as a flat file, compared to following the cut grooves of the actual song wave into the vinyl lacquer.

In essence the bigger argument also resides within the constructs of portability and atmosphere. CD's became so prominent due to their ease of use and means of getting out to the masses compared to the fragility of a vinyl record. Pop the cd in the player and off you go, generally devoid of skips or scratches until used heavily over time or that drunk friend of yours who always leaves them out of their cases to be scratched up (yes, most of my friends).

Vinyl records require a bit of a mood to be set. It can be very ritualistic as you become physically involved with the album. Whether it be knowing just when side A finishes and you should flip over to side B or that distinct warmth and humidity that seems to be when a needle finds the first few notes of your favorite album.

Knowing all these things about the nuances of sound quality and why vinyl will never fully go away, dive into a great video about a laser device for vinyl records that will never destroy your most valued records and keep those grooves sounding perfectly for a long time to come.

“The Laser Turntable employs patented technology that produces phenomenal fidelity while never physically touching the record, thus eliminating the deterioration to the album’s surface inflicted by conventional turntables. The laser’s precision allows you to pick up audio information that has never been touched or damaged by a needle. This virgin audio information is then reproduced without digitization maintaining true analog sound as close as possible to when the master tape was recorded. The Laser Turntable even allows you to play records that have been severely warped or damaged over years of wear and tear.” – EIP

"Motobunny is a brand new, Icona-Pop-Meets-Iggy-Pop, American rock n’ roll band with two dynamic frontwomen and a debut album poised for a May 12th release on Rusty Knuckles Music. With tracks already spinning around the country on stations like Sirius/XM, KROQ (LA), KEXP (Seattle), WFMU (NJ) and WRUR (New York), momentum is building and plans are being laid for release parties in their hometowns of Phoenix and Los Angeles. Led by dual singers Christa Collins and Nicole Laurrene, the band’s aesthetic has as much to do with Laurrene’s Michigan rock roots as the surf sounds and pounding percussion of LA’s punk and garage scenes. Rarely does a rock band present with two such well-matched, intense vocalists, but the rest of Motobunny keep up easily, ripping through songs straight out of a Tarantino film. They will hit the stage to celebrate the release of the album May 15th in Phoenix at Rips Bar and May 16th at El Cid in Los Angeles!

Whiskeydick Review From Oxford England - "...A Cross Between Pantera and David Allan Coe

Whiskeydick Review From Oxford England - "...A Cross Between Pantera and David Allan Coe

"We're just a train-robbin', gun-totin', dope-smokin', guitar-pickin', muthafuckin' good time band, taking hillbilly music and spreading it across the land," is how Fort Worth, Texas duo Whiskeydick describe themselves, which is as good as anything Nightshift can conjure to describe their soulful blend of outlaw country and metal, played by two big, bearded, heavily-tattooed blokes armed with acoustic guitars and sat on wooden folding chairs for the duration of their shows. With deep, rich, rootsy vocals and plenty of guitar heroics, the pair - Fritz and Reverend Johnson - sound like a cross between Pantera and David Allan Coe, and if it's not the kind of thing you'd normally expect to see at a Buried In Smoke show, the fact that Whiskeydick have shared a stage with Honky, Weedeater, and Nashville Pussy shows they can hold their own in the heaviest company. Which is good since tonight's local supports are Didcot's Super-heavyweight groove crew Mother Corona and new local stoner-metal outfit Indica Blues, two bands who bring classic rock sounds into the modern age with extreme force." - Nightshift, Oxford England

Rival Sons Debut New Video For Electric Man

Rival Sons Debut New Video For Electric Man
Rival Sons are one of the best rock bands hitting the road today. Their sounds harken back on a time when a guitar, bass line and pounding rhythm from the drums, coupled with soaring vocals could change reality. The new video for their track "Electric Man" further establishes their signature sound and is a great visualization and effects montage helping to further elevate one of the bad ass tracks from their newest album Great Western Valkyrie.

Motobunny Debuts New Track On Alternative Press

Motobunny Debuts New Track On Alternative Press
Los Angeles rockers MotoBunny are teaming up with AP to bring you their new music video for “Let’s Go Out.” The track is taken from the band’s latest self-titled album, which is out now. (Get it here.)

The band tell the story of the video:
“This video was shot full guerilla film style, one night in and around Hollywood, C.A. Our director, Matt Eskew, mounted a camera on his vintage Lincoln. Nicole and Christa then hit the road, but after a few minutes of shooting, the police pulled them over. When the cop realized they were shooting a music video, he let them go. In one shot, you can actually see the lights from the police car. What's this? A giant hand at a carwash?! Of course the Moto ladies had to climb all over it—what a lucky hand. About an hour before the shoot, Christa stitched up a bunny suit for Michael, who threw on some cheap sunglasses and took to Melrose Avenue with Rik and a couple guitars for a little busking action. Then they were off to the arcade on Vermont Avenue for a game of Guitar Hero. Families kept coming up and asking to take pictures with the bunny. You can actually see security kicking Rik and the bunny out. Eventually we all made our way up to Capitol Records, with the bunny banging on the front doors at nearly 2AM. Security wasn't having anything to do with Motobunny though… your loss, Capitol Records!”
